No More Sleepless Nights with Inspire Sleep Apnea Innovation

I snore.

I snore a lot.

Like obnoxiously so.

It has long been an issue in my marriage — so much so that while my husband and I begin the night in the same bed, by morning I am all alone. I also travel a lot for business, and most nights I find myself waking up multiple times as my obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) makes staying asleep almost impossible.

And because I have never been remotely interested in a cumbersome CPAP machine, I just figured the inconvenience of sleep apnea would always be my new normal. See, because of my busy travel schedule (and my inability to master the art of packing light), lugging around a CPAP machine with its own carrying case, a mask and a hose, just isn’t ideal at all.

However, my decision didn’t really take into consideration my husband’s need for a good night sleep.

I have since discovered a better alternative — one that I hope my husband and I can both sleep with, and it requires no mask and no hose. The Inspire Sleep Apnea Innovation is a fresh new approach to treating OSA. This innovative treatment option is for people like me who live with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and who are unable to use or get any consistent benefits from CPAP.

How Does Inspire Sleep Apnea Innovation Work?

During sleep, the muscles of the throat help to keep your airway open so that you can breathe. If you suffer from OSA, your breathing can be obstructed when the tongue and other soft tissues relax during sleep. When this occurs, my brain reacts and wakes me up so that normal breathing can resume. The result? A lot of restless nights for me and my husband.

Inspire has developed the first and only FDA-approved implanted device that provides a safe and effective treatment for moderate-to-severe OSA.

The device works inside the body to treat the root cause of sleep apnea with just the click of a button. It’s a small device — similar to a pacemaker — that keeps your airway open using a gentle pulse. It’s implanted in the body, with just three small incisions in a same-day, outpatient procedure.

Following the procedure, you work with your doctor to customize the device to your specific needs. Once it’s fine-tuned, you simply click the remote to turn on Inspire and go to bed.  While you’re asleep, Inspire monitors your breathing, and every time your airway closes, a gentle pulse moves the tongue out of the way and keeps you breathing freely.

Benefits Of Inspire

• Restorative, restful sleep with just the click of a button

• No mask. No hose. Just sleep.

• Wake up refreshed

• Return to restful sleep with your partner

Is Inspire For You?

Like any medical treatment, Inspire is not for everyone. But if you have moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, are unable to use or get consistent benefit from CPAP, are not significantly obese and are over the age of 22, you should connect with an Inspire trained doctor to see if you may be eligible.

My husband and I are attending a free Inspire informational event to learn more. I think he is more excited than I am because his quest for a good night’s sleep while laying next to me is something he has craved for a long while.
