Trend Report: The Female Power Suit Is Back

Since the Future Is Female, all you ladies are going to need a power suit. Thanks to the trend that started last fall, power suits in every size, style, cut and color are everywhere.  And they aren’t just for the office anymore. Some of your favorite street style stars can be seen rocking fun and funky coordinates in bold stripes and paired with the perfect fur accessories.

2018 Is The Year of the Female Power Suit

In a year that has seen “Girl Power” reach new heights in part because of Hillary Clinton’s deferred dream (sigh!), the #MeToo movement and womens’ marches, it is quite befitting that women and girls are fully embracing the power suit. But this isn’t your Momma’s corporate attire. The updated version is fun, funky and feminine with tailored cuts, ruffled cuffs, bold colors and asymmetrical hemlines.

The fabrics to choose from are divine like burgundy silks and muted tweed. The variety of cuts — skinny and cropped, wide-leg and flowing, etc.  —  make shopping for your own so much fun. Mix and match the pieces with other items in your closet for several different looks as well. Pair your power suit with any kind of shoes you’d like, from sneakers, to mules, to strappy sandals, to sock boots, and you will be your own trendsetter.

My plaid suit is from Elvi.com. These tailored grey tweed trousers are ideal for a stylish, structured desk to dance floor look. I styled them with the matching blazer to create a more professional look. Spotted on some of the most stylish bloggers, a grey tweed blazer is definitely the fail-safe winter wardrobe essential. Next time I will pair with a statement or slogan t-shirt and sneakers for a relaxed outfit. This on trend plaid power suit is on sale for less than $60 too! You can’t beat that!

With the re-emergence of this power trend, borrowing from the boys has never been so much fun!
