I have a confession to make: My shopping habits are OUT OF CONTROL. The amount of clothing and shoes and accessories (and Huggable Hangers) I own are enough to clothe an incoming fall freshman class at Spelman College. Seriously, and that is very problematic. There is no more room in the inn.
So as the new year has arrived, I have made but one resolution: to curb my excessive shopping habits excessively. Stopping cold turkey, however, could send me into withdrawal. I’ve had this addiction since I learned to crawl afterall. To help with the side affects, I will shop my own closets for hidden (mostly buried) treasures and make them new and special again.
In my wardrobe, there are literally thousands of items I have either never worn before or worn sparingly. I’ve found a few gems over the last week as I purged my closets in preparation for my Jan. 13 closet sale. The finds sparked an idea and a new series for the blog I’ve titled In The Closet. Each month, I will share brand new looks featuring an item or 2 or 3 that I’ve found in the closet. I start with this Faux Leather Belted Vest from Eloquii last season maybe? I know I have owned it a year and vaguely remember wearing it once. Let’s give it a go … again.
I’m really feeling the way this super casual yet chic look came together. I simply paired the vest with a long sleeve black tee, a skinny jean and over the knee slouchy heeled boots. Temps in Atlanta had dipped below 40 so I further layered the look with a plaid coat, and added my black Gucci crossbody. Unfortunately, the vest is no longer available.
This isn’t the first time I shopped my closet, and it won’t be the last. If you can make what you already own feel exciting, the more you will likely want to wear it. I’m excited about this look and motivated to keep looking for more treasures In The Closet.
I love the idea of shopping your own closet. I’m not sure if I have enough exciting pieces in mine, so I’m anxiously waiting for your closet sale.

I have plenty for sale! LOL!
OMG… I have the same problem with over shopping and having too much! I just gave away 20 huge black trash bags of clothes. It was so hard bcz I wanted everything and claimed to love it all lol. When I seen your look, it reminded me that I too have this vest hanging hidden and need to re-mix it. I was just telling a chat group I need to shop my own closet and create new outs… Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading! Maybe we can be each others’ support! LOL!
I’ve pared my closet back a lot. Didn’t have much choice with the huge growth in my family size! 😆 Now if I could cut back on the cosmetic purchases… Love this cute and casual look.
