One of the most stylish women I know, unbeknownst to her, introduced me to the online fashion brand SheIn. For a few years now, I have followed (and drooled over) the classic, yet fun and approachable style of Monica Awed-Etuk, the Editor In Chic behind the popular fashion and lifestyle blog AwedByMonica. Monica is one of Atlanta’s most popular and stylish bloggers, and she is a pro at mixing affordable and luxury looks. She often features items from SheIn.com on her blog and social media posts.
I found my way over to SheIn.com about two years ago. To say I was impressed with their offerings and super affordable price points is an understatement. Talk about being hella dismayed that there was NO plus clothing. I found a few accessories and fun shoes (the two things that fat girls can ALWAYS fit and find) that kept me interested. Honestly, I longed for the day that SheIn would offer some of their on-trend and almost ridiculously underpriced items for the girls with curves.
So, you can imagine my delight when SheIn reached out to me and invited me to review items for their NEW plus size collection. The fact that SheIn was now offering plus was, well …… a plus! I selected two items to review, including this lovely off the shoulder gingham print dress. I’m kinda obsessed with gingham print (see past posts here, here & here), so this dress seemed like it was made especially for me.
Now, I will be honest. I expected the quality of this dress to be cheaply made with cheap fabric. I expected it to be ill-made and coming loose at the seams. It was none of that. In fact, the no-wrinkle fabric is a major plus, and the 100% non-stretch polyester is actually very sturdy. It’s the perfect dress from summer. However, until very recently, we were still experiencing mild summer-like temperatures in Atlanta. All in all, it’s a pretty great dress, especially for $25. I usually have to size up in less expensive brands and those that offer junior plus. Not this time because the dress also fit great.
You should definitely check out shein.com for some fun and trendy pieces to add to your wardrobe. The SheIn Plus collection is growing everyday. Although the plus items are not as robust as straight offerings, I am hopefully they will get there.
