STYLE: Fashion Art

Fashion is art. It’s that simple, especially when you consider the talents of let’s say Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Alexander McQueen or Rei Kawakubo to name a few. These names and the brands they represent are synonymous with luxury, and serve to convey a certain social status of those who can afford to slay the day away in their Rockstuds.

There are some pretty talented and creative minds that have graced the world of fashion with their designs., and one of the most brilliant to me is Tom Ford. What he did for the House of Gucci should be made into a TV mini-series.  And if you know me, you KNOW I have a very special affinity for Gucci and its revival. But you don’t have to break the bank to find clothes and accessories that exude luxury and celebrate the art form that it is.

This look — a one shoulder ruffle bodysuit and printed scuba skirt — from Eloquii is the perfect example. I paid less than $100 for the entire look because Eloquii has the most amazing sales. (This look is on sale now for 40% off). The little cute box clutch is from Target and I paid about $20 for it two years ago. The shoes, by  Laurence Dacade, were the most expensive part of the look. They retail for $300, but I got them on sale for half off during the after Christmas sales.

To me, all fashion is art because the same amount of artistic expression that goes into a painting, in architectural structures or a piece of pottery goes into the carefully crafted designs of a fashion designer. So it’s no wonder fashion and art go hand in hand. What do you think? How does fashion represent and reflect art in your eyes? Let’s chat about it in the comments section below.

And as always, thanks for stopping by!
