The Velvet Fashion Trend Is Here To Stay

I am so ready for winter in Atlanta as it has been summer here since March. If you know anything about summers in the South, then you know it gets hella HOT! A cool — even freezing cold — would be welcomed, if only for 21 days.

As I await the cooler temperatures, I have been transitioning my wardrobe in the meantime. I have added a few new items that have quickly become favorites like this studded faux leather moto jacket and velvet pleated skirt.

Let’s talk about this skirt. Simply put, it’s a Simply Be stunner.  I first saw this piece of fabulosity at the brand’s booth during The Curvy Con. I had to have it. The color is very fresh and feminine for fall.

Velvet is back again this fall/winter season and I am here for it this time around. More structured and classier pieces are readily available as the trend had re-emerged. More brands are including the fabric in their various collections.  This luxurious fabric is now being used in more casual wear. It’s not just for specific fancy events.

The tomboy in me is in a constant battle with my more feminine sensibilities. This look is a perfect representation of my personality. I am such a proponent of mixing my more sturdy, masculine-inspired pieces with my super girly ones for fun and funky fall looks.

Pairing this studded moto jacket with a bold pink and pleated velvet skirt already created a great balance. But then I added the metallic beanie (similar), the Fendi-inspired sunnies, the red bottoms and the look was complete. I’m pretty pleased with how this look came together and so were the people on the street during this photo shoot. I literally gave three different people info on the skirt and jacket.

Velvet has been slowing becoming a favorite fashion trend. It hasn’t always been though. Now, I can’t get enough! I have added a few more velvet darlings to my wardrobe. Can’t wait to share them with the #Freehive.

Have you incorporated any velvet into your own wardrobe? If not, you should!
