STYLE: A Little "Cookie-ish"

If you are a fan of Empire, the hit television show about the Life & Times of Lucious & Cookie Lyon, then you probably had a bit of an indication by the title of this post what it would be all about.

Cookie Lyon, the matriarch of the over the top crazy, but incredibly talented Lyon family music empire, has become an iconic pop culture and fashion icon. Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson, who happens to be my BFF (in my head), will rock the hell out of a metallic gold leather suit and top is with a mink stole. She will wear a classic St. John jacket with a pair of boyfriend jeans and accessorize it with a bright red leather Moschino bag adorned with gaudy gold hardware and with the brand name emblazoned in bold letters across it.

Cookie is the poster child for 1990s urban fashion or what some of us call Ghetto Fabulosity. And it works …. for her! And much like mine, Cookie’s closet on the set of the hit show has “everything from Prada to Target," the show's costume designer Rita McGhee said to TVInsider.com

This look is quite “Cookie-ish” as it combines high end luxury pieces mixed with very affordable fast fashion items. It also features fur and the body-conscious trend thanks to the fitted marigold dress. I felt like a badass in this look, a BOSS ready for any challenge, fierce and fabulous … all traits of our favorite around the way girls Cookie and Taraji!

All of the items I am wearing were bout some time ago. Each piece was kind of “rediscovered” while I was cleaning out my closet and selecting looks to sell during my upcoming #NikkiFreeStyle Sip&Shop PopUp Shop! You never really know what treasures you have until you start hunting in your own closets!  I’ve linked a few similar items below.

As always, thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this look and are inspired to embrace your inner Cookie Lyon: Boss Babe Extraordinare!

Fashionably Yours,
